Happy Friday everybody! I sure hope you all have had a great week. I thought I would share with you something funny and now that I think about it….something a little embarrassing about myself.
Growing up my mom and dad would always make my brother and I bless our food before chowing down. Well as a child, I vividly remember saying, “Jesus wept”, to bless my food. Yup, you heard me correctly. My family would sit down to eat and on occasion, I would bless the food by saying, “Jesus Wept”. As I got older my prayer over my meals obviously changed, but I never forgot the short and to the point “prayer” that I use to say before eating.
Last month I was at a gathering and we started talking about crazy things that we all use to do as a kid. Well, I thought it would be fitting to bring up my little “prayer”, you know, thinking that everybody would remember when they use to say it too and then we would all laugh hysterically……together. Hmmmm, it didn’t quite turn out that way. After I finished sharing, everybody looked around and the room grew silent. Can y’all believe that NOBODY in the entire room knew what I was talking about?! Not a single soul. I was crushed.
Every since then I have really been trying to figure out where in the world did I get that from. Better yet…..where in the world did my family get that from! lol. I know what, “Jesus Wept” means, but I have not a clue as to why my family thought it was okay to say it as a way to “bless the food”.
So now I’m turning to you all! Have you heard of people saying, “Jesus Wept” to bless their food? If so, do you know the reason behind it???? There has to be at least one of you out there that knows what I’m talking about!!!!
ALSO, please share what crazy thing you use to do as a child (or as an adult) that made absolutely no sense! Or, something crazy that you believed as a child. Or even share some random funny story about your kids!
