As Priscilla mentioned in her previous post, we had several guests at our office this week. We don’t have guests very often so we wanted to be certain they felt welcomed and loved. In preparation for them, we bought a few snacks, cold drinks and sweets. We carefully set the buffet table with pretty glasses, ceramic platters and fresh fruit.
Afterwards as I was washing some of the dishes I was reminded of a verse that I know is familiar to many of you.
“The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, and He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for His name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” Psalm 23
Think of it. He sets a table for me! He prepares the dishes, sets out the food and makes a place for me. In the same way that we prepared a welcoming environment for our guests, He prepares the same for me. In fact, He does this even in the midst of my enemies.
I don’t know what enemies you are facing right now, whether it is anxiety, fear, finances, challenges at work or even fighting with your spouse. But what I do know is He has prepared a place for you. In the midst of your struggle He has not abandoned nor forgotten you. He has intentionally made a place for you.
Now the question is will we sit at the table? Let us come and enjoy His banquet.
Blessings,
Green
