The holiday weekend was wonderful. The weather was absolutely beautiful
and Jerry and I got to spend time enjoying it with our family. Just
lovely.
And, this weekend marked a string of about four weekends in a row that we’ve been
home. It’s been nice to have a bit of a summer reprieve from our normal
traveling. However, as much as I’ve enjoyed lazy weekends, I am looking
forward to the Going Beyond women’s conference in Hattiesburg,
Mississippi at Temple Baptist Church this Friday and Saturday. These
opportunities to gather with God’s women are the highlight of my ministry
year. My brother, Anthony Evans Jr., and I are so excited to share in
worship and the Word with the women who will come together this weekend.
I must admit, one of the things I’m most excited about is our mission
project for this event. Last month in Oklahoma we collected a mountain of toilet tissue and detergent for
DaySpring Villa – a housing mission for women. I was amazed that, by our
willingness to collectively demonstrate God’s love, we gathered enough
resources to service women and children in need for 5 MONTHS.
FIVE WHOLE MONTHS!
Now, there are mothers who can keep their children’s clothes clean and
their bottoms . . . . well, I’m sure you get the picture. It didn’t
cost us much and yet we made a tremendous impact on so many. That’s the
way it should be when God’s people gather. Something should be different
because of the meeting. The community should know we were there.
This weekend we get to bring a solution to Homes of Hope. They
need canned goods and paper products – and I have no doubt that the women
coming this weekend will respond passionately.
God loves a cheerful giver and there’s nothing than stirs me more than doing just that – giving cheerfully!
I’m excited to be a part of what will transpire in a few days. I’ll
report back here after the weekend and tell you all about it!
Thanks for keeping us in your prayers.
Bless you,
Priscilla
