Have you ever seen someone and just been stunned at how
familiar they seem? It’s frustrating isn’t it – watching someone for a few
seconds, maybe even a few minutes as you try to recall where you’ve seen them
before.
I had one of those moments last night.
Right now, I’m in Jacksonville, Florida at the incredible
Shine Conference with Kerri Weems. Two-thousand women are crammed into every
nook and cranny of this wonderful event designed to inspire and encourage. It’s
a wonderful gathering and at the end of last night’s session, a gorgeous woman
with long flowing black hair and an engaging smile walked up to me. I was
stunned because I just knew that I knew her.
She explained that she was so glad that I was writing The Resolution For Women and that she
couldn’t wait for it to be released in September. I was shocked to hear that.
Not may people know that I’ve written that book since it won’t be in stores for
another four months or so. I asked her how she knew about it and that’s when my
question about why she was so familiar was answered.
You see, The
Resolution For Women, is a companion book to a new movie. From the makers
of Fireproof, Flywheel and Facing the Giants, comes a brand new
film called Courageous. Before
writing the book, I was allowed to see a pre-released copy of the movie. I
loved it and I loved the characters – especially a devoted and struggling yet
often hilarious husband and father named Javiar and his wife . . . . Carmen.
And this, was Carmen!
We hugged and laughed. I felt like I was in the presence of
a real live movie star! Her real name is Angelita Nelson and you’ll be able to
see her in action when the movie releases in September.
Then she’ll be a familiar face to all of us.
