When you hear the word, wait, what first comes to mind? Excitement? Frustration? Do you look forward to hearing that you have to wait for something?
Well, no matter who you are, how old you are, or what season of life you’re in, we ALL are waiting for something…..You may be waiting to finish school, to make a career move, to get a promotion, to become financially stable. Or, you may be waiting to get married, to have kids, for your marriage to get better, for your kid’s grades to improve, for your health to improve. Or maybe you’re waiting to retire, or for that moment when you can take a much needed vacation. Or maybe the Lord has promised you something and you are waiting for His promise to come to fruition. Or maybe you are waiting for direction from the Lord. Waiting for a burden to be lifted or for peace to overflow your heart. Bottom line is, all of us are waiting for something. The only difference is, some are waiting patiently for whatever that “thing” is in their life, and some are not.
If you are anything like me, I wait extremely well! Until…….I don’t feel like waiting anymore or until waiting gets in the way of something that I feel I should be doing right now. Vicki Yohe said it best in her song titled, In The Waiting. She said, “The hardest part is waiting on you, when what I really want, is just to see your hand move”. Can you relate to those lyrics? I surely can.
Last night I looked up Scriptures on waiting and one thing that I found was that the word waiting is sometimes used synonymously with hope and trust. We can wait patiently for Him, because we trust Him. We confidently believe that His timing is perfect and that He will withhold no good thing from those who do what is right (Psalm 84:11). We can hope in Him, which means to look forward to with desire and confidence, because He is good. So since He is good, then that means whatever comes from Him is good.
Since wating is inevitable, be encouraged today and know that while you wait, you are not alone:) Secondly, know that He has promised to be good to you…while you wait (Lamentations 3:25). To strengthen your heart….while you wait (Psalm 27:14). He has promised that none who wait for Him shall be put to shame (Psalm 27:14). That those who wait for Him will run and not grow weary and will walk and not faint (Isaiah 40:31). He has promised that YOU WILL be blessed, IF you wait for Him (Isaiah 30:18).
