pThere was a time in my life that hot glue got my heart racing and palms sweaty. Man, I loved to hot glue stuff! My favorite thing to glue up was crafty dried floral arrangements – let’s just say we had wreaths-a-plenty at my house. Hey, it was the 80’s. I still adore my little gun, but I don’t take it out much any more. However, it still gives me an instant rush of excitement to pull the trigger and see that liquid glue to the rescue! Don’t tell anyone, but I’ve hot-glued curtains, upholstery, furniture, hair bows and just about any craft imaginable. I have also hemmed my pants with it, and have the scars to prove it./p
p(Of course, now there is a href=”http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog/productdetail.jsp?CATID=cat483848&PRODID=xprd274584″ target=”_blank”Liquid Stitch/a – much less dangerous but not nearly as adrenaline pumping. Fear of getting burned is part of the thrill.)/p
pI WISH I was a knitter or seamstress. (I first wrote sewer, but that doesn’t look right, does it??) You know, a person who sews – a sew-er./p
pAnyhoo, I cleaned out the back of my closet the other day and pulled out my
barely-used, 20 year old sewing machine. The last time I had it out to
sew was oh, maybe 10 years ago…..and I gave up because the thread kept
getting all balled up underneath. I got frustrated, and that was the end of THAT craft experience./p
pThe only thing that has stuck with me is painting. (Now if doodling was an official craft, I’d be president of the Doodler’s Association, for sure.) I think the thing I love most about painting is the instant gratification of it. And the fact that if you mess up, you can start over. /p
pThese are two qualities that I look for in just about anything./p
