Hey there.
Hope you’re having a great Monday. I am!
I’m doing the same thing I’ve been doing every day for the past 2 weeks
(and intend to continue to do for the next 2 months) – sitting in my
make-shift writing office and getting a project done.
I’m excited about it. It’s called, “The Resolution For Women,” and will be
released in September in conjunction with a new movie titled,
“Courageous.” The book will encourage women to make some courageous
resolutions that will enrich their lives – and ultimately the lives of
those that they love.
One of these resolutions is the focus of my writing today and tomorrow. I
thought I’d throw out its theme to you – my blog family – and see what
your thoughts are. This particular resolution is centered around encouraging women to
devote the best of themselves, in their time and talents, to the current
season of their lives.
It’s so easy for us to feel like we were at our best “then,” or will be
able to give our best “later,” when things are different. All the while,
our current season goes unattended. We don’t bring our “A” game, in our
time or our gifts, to the current roles of our life.
OR. . .
We are so overwhelmed trying to balance a schedule and lifestyle that is
entirely too busy – that we are too exhausted to give our best.
I’m curious to know what, if anything, keeps you from giving the best of
your time and talents to the current season of your life?
Secondly, in order to give our best we have to BE at our best! This
means that our bodies can’t be fatigued and unhealthy, abused and
mistreated, and still have anything to offer others. We also cannot
neglect to hone our skills and gifts or mental growth. We have to
believe we are worth developing and taking time for.
I’m hearing from some of my friends that if they cut out things from
their lives in order to be able to prioritize was really matters in this
season, they are usually cutting out things that are “for them” (girl
time, quiet time, exercise, etc).
So my next question for you is this: How can a woman find a balance
between taking time for good “self-care” (which is important) but still
focus on the priorities that the Lord has given her for this season in
her life? How can we keep from feeling guilty for taking much needed
time for us?
Or. . .
Do you think that taking time for yourself is a selfish luxury that busy
women like us (wives, moms, career women,) cannot afford?
Can’t wait to hear your thoughts!
Bless you today!
