Waiting on a Vision

Dec 27, 2010

Quiet Time

I’m astounded that 2011 is upon us. I remember thinking about these “2000” years when I was a little girl and imagining them as some far out space-age that I would never actually see. And yet, they’ve – quickly, quietly snuck in on us. We’re are no long just upon them, we are in them. . . and they are most certainly upon us.

I hope that no matter what circumstances you have faced or are already seeing crest over the horizon of the new year, you are not despondent or hopeless. Whether you need divine direction or supernatural intervention, I pray that you’ll find solace in God’s promises as I did this morning when I glanced into the slender opening of Scripture called Habakkuk:

For the vision is yet for the appointed time; it hastens toward the goal and it will not fail. Though it tarries, wait for it; for it will certainly come, it will not delay. (Habakkuk 2:3)

Read those promises again . . . slowly. Digest them. Celebrate them. This is the precise message that God Himself wanted to share with a despondent prophet in the face of trying circumstances and an ever-diminishing pool of holy expectation:

• His message and its fulfillment has “an appointed time.”

• The vision “hastens toward the goal.”

• God’s plans for you “will not fail.”

• They will “certainly come” and “will not delay.”

Carry these promises in your heart. He is with you, and His plans for you will be known by you and come to fruition for you at just the right time. 2011 is not too late, even though your calendar of ambitions may say differently. He is not behind schedule nor has He any need to catch up. His plans for you are perfect and won’t fail.

They didn’t last year. . . .

And they won’t in this.

Expecting,

Priscilla
