We have just been so blown away by all of the responses we received on Thursday’s blog! Thank you so much for leaving your comments and sharing with others how you help your children stand firm against the schemes of the enemy. I’m excited to include several of your submissions below but first we have an important announcement to make!
THE GRAND PRIZE WINNER OF OUR PRINCE WARRIORS GIVEAWAY IS . . .
Jenny H. of Gilbert, AZ
Congratulations, Jenny!! You’ve won a copy of the Prince Warriors book and a Bible for each member of your family.
Again, thank you to EVERYONE that participated!
We couldn’t end this blog without sharing your words. Take a moment to read what other moms, grandmoms, and even older siblings are doing to help the kiddos within their influence stand firm in their day-to-day life.
I have developed writing prompts that center around the Bible, biblical characters, and fruits of the Spirit. Some of the prompts also deal with the schemes of the enemy. He must write a passage in his journal at least 3 times a week. I also respond to his selected writing prompts and we discuss them. His writing is slowly improving. We also discuss ways he will deal with the schemes of the enemy when encountering issues that he experiences on a daily basis.

To help them stand against the schemes of the devil, I help my younger siblings memorize Scripture and read them books similar to Prince Warriors. With my other brother, I help him by writing encouraging notes and Bible verses.

I have been doing a study lately on the Names of God. I share those with him and what they mean and we pray God’s names nightly. It made my heart smile when I had shared with my son that I was out of gas and had no money and I prayed and asked Jehovah Jireh for provisions to help me make it till payday. That morning I was given $20 out of the blue. That night, my sweet son prayed, “Jehovah-Jireh thank you for providing for us and giving us gas money.” Every night I share a new name of God and the meaning and we go over the other ones that he has learned.

I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth. 3 John 1:4.
I am constantly encouraging my kiddos to stand firm on and in Truth. One way I am consistent with encouraging my kiddos to speak Truth is with a reminder of how we speak:
We will speak with a honest heart not lying lips.
Then follow it with a checklist:
Will your words make God smile or sad?
Will your words make Satan feel happy or defeated?

I usually create with my students in order to get their minds going. I want to hear from them so I can tie the word of God in with their situations. Some of my musically talented students created songs that I allow them to sing. Dancers create a dance, and so on to help them connect the word of God with their lives (make it personal). I have a saying: No talent is a wasted talent when used for the Glory of the Father!

I am extremely close to my prince and he comes to me for advice and I ALWAYS point him and counsel him via scriptures and encourage him to continue to seek GOD’S WILL for his life, and then to LISTEN to what God says. Of course I pray for him daily and ask God to give him wisdom. I am also praying for the girl who will be his wife, as I do for all my grands. Although he is very active in church, Sunday School, Youth Choir and his youth group and attends a Christian school the enemy is always seeking a way to destroy and devour teens trying to live Christ like.

We have conversations frequently about when we see Satan’s influence in our world and our lives as well as those divine moments where God is revealing Himself. We believe showing our kids these things in the small details of life, as well as the big, so they can see the constant presence of God and the battle of the enemy against us. It’s about real and frequent dialogue, relationship, and lots of prayer to command the enemy to leave in the name of Jesus!

We have a mason jar in my son’s room with prayers written on large popsicle sticks. Some payers are for family members, friends, pray for protection, grace, etc. My son loves to pull 3 large popsicle sticks out and we pray over the ones we have chosen each night. It shows him to be intentional on what and who we pray for and so we don’t get “rehearsed” in our prayers.

Sometimes I get frustrated. Then I remember that I don’t have to fight alone. I put down my play sword and shield and pick up my Spirit sword and hand my problems to God.

Everyday I ask my son if he has eaten breakfast, brushed his teeth, and put on his armor for the day. Sometimes he answers me by reciting the armor . . . kind of sarcastically . . . but, still, he does!! My heart just fills up with joy when as I hear him say it!
