Hey y’all. Rachel Ridge here. The Going Beyond Team asked me if I would tell you about our final AWAKEN gathering of 2015, which happened Tuesday night at One Community Church in Plano Texas.
Um, YES!
Let me tell you about it: It was AWESOME!
What a fantastic way to finish out the year! Lines of women formed early, with everyone clearly excited for an evening of worship, prayer and teaching by Priscilla. I love getting to be part of this gathering, and getting to see women from every denomination, every area of our city, and every race and background come together in such a special way.
One of the highlights of the night was after Anthony Evans led the packed house in worship, we got to honor a very special lady named Alex Jo with what Priscilla calls the “Wide Awake Award.” Alex was nominated for the award because of her personal ministry to the homeless in the Dallas area. As Alex shared her story of coming to the United States several years ago from Korea, and being moved to feed the homeless every Saturday and Sunday, women began getting out of their seats and bringing money to the stage in an impromptu offering! They just came forward, one after the other, to give to this remarkable woman who gives so much of herself to people who need it the most. Talk about the Holy Spirit electrifying the place!
By the time Priscilla began to speak, I think everyone there knew they were in for a special word. Some of you might have seen Priscilla in a little movie that came out recently, called War Room. (wink) Well, the subject of prayer–fervent prayer–is one of the things she teaches so passionately about.
WE. LOVED. IT.
That led into teaching about the armor of God in Ephesians 6, and oh my goodness . . . y’all! All I can tell you is that this lady’s on fire! I’m gonna have to get the DVD when it comes out so I can replay it and try to take better notes. I needed every word of it last night, and I know I wasn’t the only one.
AWAKEN gatherings happen a few times each year in the Dallas/Ft.Worth area (visit awakendfw.org to stay up to date). If you live in the area or love a good road trip, PUT IT ON YOUR CALENDARS, LADIES! It is a can’t-miss night that is really changing lives. The testimonies of answered prayers, the women praying for one another, and local ministries being absolutely blown away by your generosity! This time, we blessed Minnie’s Food Pantry with food to serve the hungry during this Thanksgiving holiday. They literally loaded a truck full with donations brought by the women that attended.
