Hello to my favorite Going Beyond friends! It’s been a while since you were introduced to me but I’m so excited to be here with you today.
I wanted to tell you about a Dave Ramsey event I attended here in Dallas a few weeks ago called EntreLeadership. I’m so glad I was able to go and learned a TON in one day. It was like information overload. The one thing that I cannot stop thinking about was one simple sentence that Dave said:
The most successful people read one book a month. Not only are they reading one book a month, but most of these books are non-fiction. Now, I love to read but I definitely do not read 12 books a year. I’m one of those people who is reading about 5 different books at one time and it takes me forever to get through all of them.
But I think this is such an important thing: reading. And it makes sense that successful people are bookworms. I don’t know about you, but I want to be successful. I want to be successful in the things the Lord has entrusted to me. I don’t want to take lightly the job He has given me, the friendships that I have, the church that I attend, or the different things I do every day.
So I’ve now made a goal for myself: I’m going to read one book every two months. Yes, I know this is not one book a month, but I figured I might as well start with a goal that’s attainable, and then work my way up.
Lately I’ve been asking friends/leaders how much they read, when they make time for reading, and what their favorites books are lately. So, I’m curious to know from you:
1. How much do you read?
2. When do you read each week?
3. What are your top 5 favorite books as of late?
