I’ve finally done it!
It’s only taken a year and a half of trial and error, but I think I may have finally mastered the art of making bread. I’ve told you guys about the bread starter that I’ve used for quite some time. I’ve loved it and my family has enjoyed the fruit of it, but my loaves have never been as light and fluffy as my “bread-making-mentor.” Mine always seemed a bit dense compared to her more soft, billowy version that melts like butter in your mouth. I’ve been yearning to master it and have tried to no avail since 2008.
But today, I just pulled two loaves from the oven, cut into them and discovered that I’d finally done something right! I’m not sure if it was the way I kneaded it during the 2-day process, or if I just cooked it for the right amount of time on the right temperature. All I know for sure is that this is the delicious stuff I’ve been craving.
And it only took me almost two years to do it.
I’m not quite sure why I find so many incredible illustrations out of food. Must be a testament to my affinity for it. (Lord, help me!)
But today, a magazine sent me a list of questions I needed to send a response to. One of them was:
What advice can you give on making ideas and dreams become a reality?
My response: Take one step at a time. Looking at the whole picture might be overwhelming, but breaking down your dream into smaller sized goals that can be achieved daily will help you to manage your idea, see progress and maintain momentum.
Momentum.
That’s what we need. Especially when we’ve been doing the same thing for so long and haven’t been achieving the results that we’re after. You’ve been there, haven’t you? Peering up at a mountainous task that looms overheard like an unbeatable and terrifying foe. If you didn’t know better, you’d either run from it or just give up trying to overcome it. But instead, you keep at it, day after day, chipping away in small increments at that which seeks to intimidate you. And now you can sit back and enjoy the rewards of your labor. All that time, energy and attention has been worth it, hasn’t it?
I know it has been for me. MMMMMM.
So, don’t give up my friend. I promise you, it’ll be worth it.
What’s your story?
