- If you could describe this season of your life in one word, what word would it be? Why?
Blessed – to be a tool in God’s hands – for His glory – to shine His light in the darkness of our culture. Blessed to be invited daily to walk continually with my Lord and my Savior, to work with Him in His power, to shine and suffer for Him, and to be victorious in Him!
- In terms of your career, before you knew you would be _______________, you almost . . .
Before I knew I would be an International Human Rights Attorney and writer/speaker of the Truth, I almost became a ballerina.
- Fill in the blank. I am not a very _____________ person.
I am not a very tall person.
I am under 5-feet tall. When I was 25 years old living in Romania, I weighed less than 82 pounds. Despite my small stature, God has used me for His glory. In 1979, He used me to stand against Romanian dictator, Nicolae Ceausescu (who declared himself a god and required us to worship him), and his Socialist government in court to fight for them to respect human and religious rights.
- In what ways do you ensure that your career path serves the purposes of God and encourages His people?
As an International Human Rights Attorney, writer, and speaker, I am passionate about helping others stand up for truth and freedom. I want to help them live free, courageous, purpose-filled, abundant lives and build a lasting legacy. My memoir, Saving My Assassin, describes how God put the desire on my heart to find the truth in a land of lies (Socialist Romania). How He allowed me to go to Bucharest Law School to find the truth, but then I realized that the Truth is Jesus Christ. I accepted His divine call to defend both Christian and human rights cases in Romania. When I moved to America, I learned English and graduated from S.M.U. Law School. I am now continuing to fight for religious freedom internationally, encouraging my clients to remain faithful to Christ no matter the circumstances or the cost.
- Name your biggest strength and your biggest weakness? How has each served you as you’ve fulfilled your purpose?
My biggest strength is my faith in Christ. I have seen and experienced God’s power, love and protection in the most terrifying circumstances. Nevertheless, those circumstances taught me to trust Him more, and to value the real meaning of Galatians 2:20: “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
My biggest weakness is that I often act as a perfectionist, working too hard. Priscilla’s tweet on February 24, 2020, reminded me that, “Overwork is a form of unbelief.” This helped me a lot, and reminded me just to do my part and let the Lord do the rest.
How has each served me as I’ve fulfilled my purpose?
My Faith– Christ’s sacrifice changed my destiny from Hell to Heaven! Faith encourages me to share the Gospel, and I am so blessed to have those opportunities not only as a speaker, writer, and attorney, but in my day-to-day life. I share the Gospel at the store, on the airplane, in the beauty salon, and in the most unexpected circumstances or places.
My Overwork– I am God’s work in progress. He reminds me that I am a sinner, but more importantly, that I need Jesus every minute of my life. Praise God He is always available to me.
- What has been the most difficult season in your life? How did you get through it?
The most difficult season of my life was living in Romania under the dictatorship of Nicolae Ceausescu. As a human rights attorney, I faced years of arrest, interrogation, and torture. In 1987, Ceausescu sent an assassin to my office late one evening to kill me.
How did I get through it?
I turned to the Lord for help in prayer. He saved me . . . and He saved my assassin.
- If you could tell your younger self anything, what would it be?
You are as bold as a lion – you just don’t know it yet.
- If this were your last year on earth, what would you want to spend your time doing?
I would love to continue to encourage people – at home and around the world – sharing the Gospel and the amazing power of Christ in my life. Challenging others to be a tool in God’s hands – as I am – and to serve Him unafraid. My mission is to wake up every sleeping church in America, every fearful or politically correct pastor and congregation, every Christian attending regular Christian conferences but often only to be entertained, and to challenge all the comfortable, cultural Christians to be on fire again for Christ and to change the world in His power.
- If you could make three wishes and there were no limitations on what you could request, what would you wish for?
First wish: to find partners to help Virginia Prodan Ministries to share the message of hope and touch many more lives.
Second wish: to publish more books, praying that God will give me opportunities to prepare Christians for persecution.
Third wish: to find a movie company that will produce a movie from my memoir that will glorify God and encourage people.
- When is the last time you laughed so hard that it hurt?
A few days ago, I was introduced to a new American friend, Debbie. She is learning the Romanian language on her own. She hopes to go on a mission trip to Romania, and she asked me many questions about the country, the churches, the people, etc. She knew few Romanian words, so I helped teach her a few more. Even though she had difficulty speaking, she insisted on telling me a joke in Romanian. I laughed so hard listening to the way she conveyed it. She laughed with me. We had a great time!
